striking example of the impact of untended forests … 2500 acres including this hill burned 2 weeks after this shot ~ the standing and fallen dead hemlocks and a careless hiker were apparently the recipe for this disaster ~ sadly, the forest service had scheduled this area for a prescribed burn in the near future, but the 'sequester' caused short staff & not enough hours to care properly for our forests.
